Kindness

Mrs. Allan has helped instill the importance of "Kindness" in 4th grade.  The world sometimes feels like it is so full of negativity.  She helped her students realize that they have the power to change that! World Kindness Day was November 13th this year, so they kicked off their Kindness Challenge on Monday, November 14th. She began by handing out top secret envelopes full of kindness missions to her 4th grade student secret agents. Over the week, they completed acts of kindness within their classroom and throughout the school. They wrote kind notes and snuck them into each other’s desks, drew pictures for staff throughout the school, invited new friends to play at recess, and so much more! This past week they wrapped up their kindness challenge by painting rocks and leaving them at the park in Hershey for others to enjoy. This activity was based on the book Each Kindness, where the author discusses throwing a rock into a pond to see the ripple effect. She explained that that is exactly how kindness works. One kind act leads to another and continues to spread. This was certainly the case in Mrs. Allan's classroom - they completed over 200 acts of kindness! Great job kiddos! “Be kind, whenever possible. It is always possible”  Every day should be World Kindness Day.
