Artificial intelligence is becoming part of everyday life. At Hershey Public Schools, we want students to learn how to use AI thoughtfully while continuing to build their own knowledge and skills.
It is important to ask some questions before using AI. Do I need AI for this? How do I know AI provided a factual answer? Is this still my work? AI can give an answer that is wrong. How should the information AI provided be checked for accurate content? How do we know the source is from a reliable source?
AI can be great for brainstorming, it should not do our thinking for us or do a complete assignment. It is our policy to follow the teacher's expectations for each assignment; if AI use is not allowed, it should not be used.
We encourage families , students and staff to talk about AI use. These conversations will help us make good choices as technology continues to change.
