The Hershey Public Schools Board of Education has once again been recognized for its outstanding leadership and commitment to students. At the 2026 Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) Area Membership Meeting held in North Platte on September 2, 2026, the Board received the Board of Excellence Award for the 2025–2026 school year.
This marks the eighth consecutive year the Hershey Board of Education has earned this honor, receiving the award every year since the 2018–2019 school year. This continued recognition reflects the Board's strong commitment to professional growth, effective governance, and serving the students, staff, and community of Hershey Public Schools.
Earning the Board of Excellence Award requires much more than attending meetings. Board members are expected to continually strengthen their knowledge and understanding of school board governance through professional development and other NASB learning opportunities. The Board also participates in a goal-planning retreat to establish priorities and identify ways to continually improve its governance and leadership.
The award also recognizes participation in the annual NASB Delegate Assembly, which gives member school districts a voice in establishing NASB's advocacy priorities for the coming year. Earning the Board of Excellence Award for eight consecutive years is an accomplishment achieved by only a small number of Nebraska school boards and demonstrates the dedication of Hershey's board members to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all students.

Individual Honors
In addition to the Board of Excellence Award, several Hershey board members earned individual recognition through NASB's Award of Achievement Program this year. Jason Bode achieved Level VI, and Tim Berntson achieved Level V. These individual honors recognize their continued participation in professional development and their commitment to growing as school board leaders.
Hershey Public Schools congratulates the Board of Education on this outstanding achievement and thanks each member for the time, leadership, and commitment they give to our school district.
