From June 28–July 3, Hershey High School student Lillian Fuchser and FBLA Adviser Cynthia Elliott traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to attend the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference.
Lillian earned her spot at the national conference by placing 8th in Public Administration and Management at the Nebraska FBLA State Leadership Conference held in Kearney this past April. Her top-eight finish qualified her to compete on the national stage.
The FBLA National Leadership Conference welcomed more than 16,000 students from across the United States, as well as Canada and Puerto Rico. Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to compete, attend leadership workshops, network with peers, and experience one of the nation's largest student leadership conferences.
One of the conference highlights was pin trading, a long-standing FBLA tradition that allows students to meet and connect with participants from across the country. Lillian enjoyed exchanging state pins, making new friendships, and learning about other schools and communities.
In addition to the competitive events, Lillian and Mrs. Elliott participated in many conference activities and explored the rich culture of San Antonio. Their experiences included the FBLA Block Party, Nebraska State Meeting, Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the famous River Walk, Hard Rock Café, Pearl District, Japanese Tea Garden, Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, the Hop-On Hop-Off Trolley Tour, Whataburger, and the popular FBLA Rodeo Night.
Although Lillian did not advance to the awards stage this year, she returned home with something equally valuable—greater confidence, lasting friendships, meaningful networking connections, and unforgettable memories. Her dedication and willingness to compete among the nation's best exemplify the leadership, perseverance, and professionalism that FBLA strives to develop.
