Hershey Public Schools Community,

Our district takes pride in supporting the needs of the whole child, and to ensure that all children are safe, supported, engaged, and challenged each school day. Research indicates that initiatives focused on improving aspects of students’ well-being in schools, such as addressing childhood obesity, preventing bullying, supporting students' mental health, and restricting use of exclusionary discipline, have been found to be successful in improving student success and academic excellence. We have assessed our wellness policy as part of the USDA requirements. Below are the results of our assessment.

Hershey Public Schools recently completed its Local Wellness Policy (LWP) Triennial Assessment and is pleased to report strong results in several key areas, including nutrition standards, student access to healthy food and water, physical activity opportunities, and ongoing wellness policy review. The assessment also identified opportunities to build on this success through continued stakeholder engagement, progress monitoring, and alignment of policy language with current practices.

The district remains committed to supporting the health and wellness of all students and staff. To view the full assessment results and learn more about our wellness initiatives, please visit Wellness Policy Comparison Results .

Hershey Public Schools recently completed its Local Wellness Policy (LWP) progress review and is proud of the progress made toward supporting student health and wellness. Key accomplishments include strengthening healthy fundraising practices, developing a district Safe Routes to School plan, adding crossing guards to improve student safety, and continuing work on a K–12 physical education curriculum aligned to state standards. The district also continues to promote healthy classroom celebrations and ensure that food-related activities support student wellness goals.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, Hershey Public Schools will continue refining wellness practices, reviewing policy implementation, and engaging stakeholders in the wellness planning process

The results of the Local Wellness Policy Triennial Assessment and Progress Report are shared with the public through posting on the Hershey Public Schools website. The posting included a summary of assessment findings, areas of strength, opportunities for improvement, and planned next steps. Community members were directed to review the full assessment and supporting documents through the district website.
