Hershey Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Special Education/Resource Teacher (Early Childhood–6th Grade) for the 2026-2027 school year.

We are seeking a dedicated educator who is passionate about serving students with diverse learning needs and supporting inclusive practices across grade levels.

Position Overview

This position requires an Early Childhood endorsement (or willingness to attain one) along with Elementary PK-6 certification. The role includes a combination of:

  • Early Childhood Special Education services, and

  • An elementary resource caseload (K-3 or 4-6) based on student needs and caseload numbers.

The assignment will be balanced between Early Childhood and elementary students.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

  • Collaborate with staff and families to support student growth

  • Promote inclusive instructional practices across settings

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction and intervention to Early Childhood and elementary students with disabilities

  • Conduct evaluations to determine student eligibility

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and IEP meetings

  • Maintain positive communication with teachers and families

  • Utilize data to guide instructional decisions

  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate

  • Early Childhood Endorsement (or plan to take the ECSE Praxis)

  • Elementary PK-6 Endorsement

  • Special Education Endorsement (or eligibility)

Preferred:

  • Experience working with Early Childhood and/or elementary students with disabilities

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and progress monitoring

Contract & Compensation

  • 185-day teaching contract

  • Full teacher benefits included

  • Start Date: August 10, 2026

  • Salary Range (2026-2027): $46,920 – $84,847

  • Hershey Public Schools accepts all years of experience, with a salary index that tops out at 2.17
