Wednesday, Hershey High School celebrated an important milestone for the Class of 2026 as seniors participated in Apply to College Day, a focused event designed to help students take their next step beyond high school.
Throughout the afternoon, 30 Panther seniors worked diligently on college and postsecondary applications with guidance from school counselors and staff. The event provided dedicated time and support for students to complete applications, request transcripts, explore scholarship opportunities, and connect with admissions representatives from colleges and universities across Nebraska and beyond.
While this was not part of a statewide initiative, Hershey Public Schools proudly created its own version of Apply to College Day to ensure every senior had the resources and encouragement needed to plan for their future—whether pursuing a four-year university, community college, trade program, or military service.
Counselors and staff were on hand to answer questions and provide individualized support, making the process less stressful and more accessible for all students. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as seniors hit “submit” on applications that will open new doors and opportunities.
Superintendent and district leaders commended the initiative, noting that events like Apply to College Day reflect Hershey’s continued commitment to preparing students for life after graduation.
“We’re proud of our seniors and the dedication they’ve shown toward their future goals,” said HPS 7-12 counselor, Jolene Pettera. “This event was a wonderful way to celebrate their hard work and ensure every student has the tools to take that next step.”
Hershey Public Schools extends a heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2026 for their efforts and wishes them success as they continue on their educational journeys!
