The Hershey High School Instrumental Music Department competed at the NSAA District Music Contest, held at Perkins County High School, earning top ratings and special recognition for both ensemble and solo performances.
Both the Concert Band and Jazz Band earned Superior (I) ratings from all three judges. The Jazz Band earned two perfect scores, while the Concert Band received one perfect score!
In addition to the group awards, many soloists and small ensembles from Hershey received honors:
Rhett Edelman (alto saxophone solo) received a perfect score and was awarded Honorable Mention, recognizing his performance as one of the top three of the day by that judge.
Katie Abbott (baritone solo) also earned a perfect score and received Honorable Mention.
The baritone/alto saxophone duet featuring Katie Abbott and Rhett Edelman earned a perfect score and received the prestigious Outstanding Performance Award, recognizing it as the judge’s top performance of the entire day.

Rachel Simonson – flute solo
Maddie Haddow and Brett Morgan – clarinet duet
Haiden Piel – bass clarinet solo
Rhett Edelman – alto saxophone solo
Sam Sachtjen – alto saxophone solo
Saxophone Quartet: Noah Connick, Rhett Edelman, Logan Fletcher, and Sam Sachtjen
Katie Abbott – baritone solo and tuba solo
Christian Allen – tuba solo
Lillian Fuchser – baritone solo
Rachel Simonson – xylophone solo
Senior Ensemble: Katie Abbott, Noah Connick, Rhett Edelman, Stephanie Eller, Logan Fletcher, Aubrie Martino-Zogg, Avalon Quick, Erika Rahn, and Tatume Rinke
Excellent (II) Ratings were awarded to:
Stephanie Eller – flute solo
Maddie Haddow – clarinet duet
Clarinet/Saxophone Duet – Maddie Haddow and Maddi Findley
Ella Duckworth – trumpet solo
Abby Hiatt – trumpet solo
Trumpet Duet – Abby Hiatt and Ella Duckworth
