As we approach the fall season, our students will soon be taking important district assessments. Tentatively scheduled, Aimsweb®Plus will be administered during the week of September 9-13, followed by the NWEA MAPs the week of September 16-20. These assessments are designed to measure and track student growth, helping us tailor instruction to meet each child's unique needs.

Aimsweb®Plus is a powerful tool that provides the framework, data, and guidance educators need to effectively allocate resources and interventions. The system helps us identify learning gaps early on, allowing us to intervene promptly and support students in their academic journey. Most Aimsweb®Plus assessments are brief, taking just 1 to 4 minutes, yet they provide predictive insights into reading and math achievement. This tool is teacher-friendly, easy to administer, and yields reliable and valid results.

The NWEA MAP Growth test is an adaptive, computer-based assessment that measures student achievement across subjects like math, reading, and science. It adjusts the difficulty of questions based on the student's performance, ensuring a personalized assessment experience. This test is crucial for understanding each student's academic level and tracking their progress over time.

Helping Your Child Prepare

As these assessments approach, it's important to ensure that your child is ready to do their best.

Here are a few tips to help them prepare:

  1. Get Plenty of Sleep: A well-rested child is better equipped to focus and perform during assessments. Ensure your child gets enough sleep each night leading up to the test days.

  2. Eat a Nutritious Breakfast: A healthy breakfast fuels the brain and body, providing the energy needed to stay alert and engaged during the assessments.

  3. Encourage and Celebrate Their Effort: Remind your child that these tests are just one way to measure their learning. Encourage them to do their best, celebrate their efforts, and focus on reaching their personal goals.

  4. Aim for On-Time Arrival: Ensure your child arrives at school on time, especially on assessment days. This helps them start the day calmly and reduces any added stress from rushing.

By supporting your child with these simple steps, you're helping them approach these assessments with confidence and readiness. We are here to support every student and look forward to seeing their growth and progress this year.
