Hershey Public Schools is proud to congratulate 2006 Hershey High School graduate Josh O'Neill for winning a silver medal with Team USA in wheelchair rugby at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Team USA played hard but lost to Japan 48-41.
Josh O'Neill, a dedicated athlete who has represented both Hershey and the United States, played a key role in helping Team USA succeed on the world stage. The 2024 Paralympics, held from August 28 to September 8, brought together top athletes from around the globe. Josh's outstanding performance in wheelchair rugby helped earn him and his team a well-deserved silver medal.
Josh played wheelchair rugby in college at the University of Arizona and made his first international appearance with Team USA in 2022. Since then, he has earned several awards, including a gold medal at the Americas Championship and a silver medal at the 2022 World Championship, where he was named player of the match.
"Josh's achievement is an inspiration to all of us," said Jane Davis, Superintendent of Hershey Public Schools. "We are incredibly proud of his hard work, dedication, and the example he sets for our students and community."
