JH Practice
Hello Panther Nation!

We are coming up on the start of another school year here in Hershey and as you could imagine, the construction is continuing to progress and with that there will be some changes to activities here this school year.

The first change that will be taking place will be that junior high practices for volleyball, football, basketball, and wrestling will take place during 8TH PERIOD for the 2023-2024 school year. This means that practice will start approximately at 2:45 and conclude around 4:15-4:30 PM. This excludes students participating in cross country in the fall and track and field in the spring. These practices will be held at their normal times at the conclusion of the school day.

For those students who have to ride the bus home after school and will participate in Junior High volleyball, football, basketball, and wrestling, they can be dismissed from practice so that they can get on the bus to make it home. If parents would like to arrange for transportation so their son or daughter can stay until the end of practice, they will have the opportunity to do so. Students having to ride the bus home will not be penalized for having to do so. We understand this year is an exception to the rule as we look to complete our construction project.

The second change that will come into play will be that we have one gym for the majority of the school year. This means there may be some earlier morning practices for high school students as we look to navigate gym space with games and practices having to take place during the season. Additionally, for home high school basketball games this winter, we will be playing with FOUR time slots to accommodate for JV and Varsity games. This means that for most home games we will play the following schedule: Girls JV @ 3:00 PM / Boys JV @ 4:30 PM / Girls V @ 6:00 PM / Boys V @ 7:30 PM. Again, this is not an ideal situation, but for the time being it will have to be what we use.

I want to thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding as we work to navigate the construction project. We know that once the dust has settled, we will have a school and facilities that will be second to none here in Hershey!! Thank you again for your time and I wish you and your family the best as the summer winds down!
