Hershey Celebrates Veterans' Day
Hershey Public Schools honored Veterans on Monday, November 11th, with a community celebration. The American Legion Post #279 presented the colors and the audience joined the Hershey band in singing The Star Spangled Banner. The Hershey band, under the direction of Mr. Ian Nelson, welcomed students, staff, and patrons of the community with a rendition of the Armed Forces on Parade. Celie Childears and Trissa Wilson both shared their experiences as Girls’ State Representatives and Josh Eshelman shared his experience of Boys’ State. Jr. Law Cadet representaive, Gabe Becher, shared his academy experiences as well. The community enjoyed several songs performed by the K-12 students under the direction of Ms. Jaydn Johnson. Guest speaker, North Platte Police Chief Dan Hudson, shared his military experiences. He also spoke of our midwestern values and encouraged everyone to be grateful for the freedoms we have. Sixth graders shared America’s White Table Ceremony with the audience which honors POWs and MIAs. The program ended with junior Reace Anderson playing Taps. Thank you to all who helped Hershey Public Schools honor our Veterans.
