Hershey Public Schools Receives a reVISION Grant for 2019-2020!
Hershey Public Schools has been awarded a Perkins reVISION Action Grant in the amount of $46,498 for the 2019-2020 school year. A group of Hershey teachers and administrators collaborated, with the help of ESU personnel, to determine skills that are needed and necessary in the workforce in Lincoln County. This team participated in an area community engagement session, where Lincoln County employers identified skills that are essential for students to possess in order to advance in high-wage, high-skill and high-demand occupations that are essential for economic growth in Lincoln County.
The curriculum areas that are focused on in this reVISION grant include Business and Skilled and Technical Science. This grant will incorporate industry standard certifications for Microsoft Office Word and Excel into our Information Technology Application courses. Skilled and Technical Science courses will incorporate virtual welding simulators into their coursework.
This grant will provide a 25 station laptop cart and Microsoft Office Software for our Information Technology Application courses. Through the use of this equipment and application software, our students will be able to work towards industry standard Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in Word and Excel. It will also provide a Lincoln Electric VRTEX 360 Virtual Reality Dual User Welding Training Simulator and welding curriculum to allow all students to experience welding in a controlled environment. A goal of this project is to Increase the number of female students and students with special needs introduced to welding. Hershey Public Schools is very excited about the opportunities that this grant brings to our students.
