Red Ribbon Week in the Elementary
Hershey Elementary students joined their peers across the country to “Say No to Drugs” during Red Ribbon Week, October 24-28. We celebrated this nationally recognized event dedicated to alcohol, tobacco, drugs and violence prevention by wearing red ribbons and participating in various anti-drug activities and lessons. The theme for this year’s Red Ribbon campaign was, “Y.O.L.O You Only Live Once - Be Drug Free!”
On Monday, October 24, an assembly celebrating Red Ribbon Week kicked off the week’s events. Our guest speaker, Lou Cox-Fornander, provided our students with a great message about using your mind. A special thank you to Ms. Evans and the high school band for their performance during the assembly.
The 3rd Annual Door Decorating Contest winners were also announced at the assembly. Doors all throughout the elementary were filled with positive themes to “just say no”. Honorable Mention awards went to Mrs. Murdock’s kindergarten and Miss Koch's 4th grade, with Ms. Kuhl's 6th grade in first place
.Students and staff participated in (and enjoyed) the daily dress-up themes that helped remind students to say no to drugs.
