On Tuesday, August 30, 2016, Karen Haase will be at Hershey Public Schools to present to our students on the changes to Hazing Legislation (LB 710) , which was passed during the past legislative session and on Digital Citizenship. More specifically, she’s going to discuss how this change in legislation now affects students and their parents at all grade levels. She will also discuss legal issues related to students’ use of the internet and social media. There will be 3 presentations which will take place in our West Gym. The first presentation will be for grades 5-8 at 1:20, grades 9-12 will begin at 2:30. The last presentation will be geared for parents and community members at 7:00 PM in the West Gym.
During this presentation on Digital Citizenship and Hazing information, Ms Haase will discuss cyberbullying, sexting, and internet safety with area students and parents. Karen uses humor, statistics, summaries of real-life cases and discusses criminal consequences attached to the inappropriate use of social media. She also presents frightening results that students who ignore internet safety have faced. We invite our parents and community to attend the evening event. You will be amazed at how much you do not know about these topics. We encourage all parents and guardians to attend.
