Hershey Students attend the Region V Leadership Conference

On January 10, 2014, eight Hershey 5th grade students joined nearly 150 5th graders from McCook, Stapleton, Sidney, Ogallala, Sutherland, Kimball, Chase County, Bridgeport, Mitchell, Morrill and Gordon/Rushville for the 18th Annual Region 5 Leadership Day held at MPCC in North Platte.
Anna Bernston, Brooke Bode, Kacey Dethlefs, Reagan Hudson, Eli McConnell, Dayonna Roberts, Sam Wiezorek and Tayten Wilson were chosen by their peers and staff to represent Hershey.  These students were recognized as strong leaders in their classrooms and throughout the school.  The students enjoyed a busy morning of attending work sessions designed to expose them to new people and experiences and enhance their leadership skills. The sessions covered four main focus areas: Peer Leadership, School/Community Leadership, Environmental Leadership, and Cyber Leadership.
After a lunch of pizza and an organized dance activity, the conference concluded with drawings for over $200 in Apple gift cards.  When the students returned to school, they worked together to create a media project documenting their experience and how they will use it to their benefit. The completed project will be shared with the 4th and 5th grade classes in the coming weeks.
